People are tired of Joe Rogan as he mocks trans people and Covid in new Netflix special

The podcast host got a few laughs from viewers, but many argued he needed new material

Joe Rogan has sparked backlash with his first Netflix special in six years by making controversial comments about Covid vaccines and the LGBTQ+ community.

Everyone has their own threshold when it comes to being ‘woke’ – or, as some might call it, a ‘nice person’ – but it seems like a lot of people are in agreement when it comes to Rogan’s latest remarks.

The podcast host made his return to stand-up with the Netflix special Burn The Boats on August 4, and after six years away he had a lot to talk about.

It didn’t take long for Rogan to get on to the topic of the Covid-19 outbreak and, more specifically, the vaccines and conspiracy theories that came along with it.

He said: “Before Covid, I would have told you that vaccines are the most important invention in human history.

“After Covid, I’m like, ‘I don’t think we went to the moon. I think Michelle Obama’s got a d**k. I think Pizzagate is real. I think there’s direct energy weapons in Antarctica.’

“I’m just kidding – I don’t think Michelle Obama’s got a d**k, but I believe all of that other s**t.”

In another segment of the show, Rogan made reference to the transgender community when he said he wanted to ‘know what happened’ in relation to accepting people’s chosen genders.

Rogan alleged anyone who complained about trans right was a ‘Nazi’, adding that it was ‘f***king weird’ that ‘everyone just accepts this new reality’.

The podcast host also said during the show he was ‘known’ for ‘misinformation’.

Viewers took to social media to share their thoughts after the special was released, with many of the responses indicating Rogan hadn’t got the laughs he was hoping for.

Instead, viewers said they’d had enough of the types of jokes Rogan was slinging out.

In a thread on Reddit discussing the special, one person wrote: “Can we please stop acting like trans jokes, crying about ‘woke mobs’ and ‘cancel culture’ is edgy or funny any more (If they ever were to begin with)?”

Another added: “Covid and trans. Get some new material, Joe!!”

Some viewers did admit to laughing at a few parts in the special, but still indicated there was room for improvement.

“There were parts that actually made me laugh but it would be cooler if he explored some non-standard JRE (Joe Rogan experience) topics. Like weed, shrooms, trans, Covid, it’s all super played out IMO,” one person said.

Another added: “It was meh. Laughed a couple times but glad I didn’t pay to see it.”
