Revealed: Why Stephen Curry’s wife Ayesha clashed with Paris cops amid claims her four-month-old baby was ‘hit in the head’ moments after gold-medal game against France

Stephen Curry’s wife, Ayesha Curry, broke down in tears after Paris police stopped her from going to her car with her four-month-old as they cleared the road for President Emmanuel Macron‘s motorcade.

Ayesha, carrying her infant son Caius on her chest and holding her six-year-old’s hand, spent three minutes trying to get back to her vehicle after the men’s basketball final on Saturday.

But police refused to let the family cross the road to a waiting vehicle or let their driver come pick them up, despite pleas from Ayesha’s mother-in-law Sonya who was heard yelling that someone had ‘touched the baby’.

A good Samaritan stepped in, acting as translator amid the chaos, informing the family that ‘the president’ was coming and ‘nobody’s allowed to cross the street right now until he’s passed’, video published online by Hollywood Fix revealed.

The tense encounter came as the Currys and Steph’s Golden State Warrior teammate, Draymond Green, were leaving the stadium after Team USA‘s 98-87 Olympic win over host France.

Steph, who dominated during the final with a 24-point tirade, was labelled ‘the devil’ by French commentators during the match broadcast.

A visible upset Ayesha, 35, was seen holding Caius in a chest-worn baby carrier with her six-year-old son Canon Jack, who was draped in an American flag, by her side.

Sonya, who confronted officers on the crowded Paris street, seemingly tried to explain the family’s situation as she begged for permission to cross.

‘Look, they won’t let us go back over there where we came from,’ she said in the video. ‘They won’t let the driver come here and they won’t let us go back over there.’

Sonya is heard telling one officer ‘you will not sleep well’ and also yelling that someone had touched Caius, Steph and Ayesha’s fourth child who was born prematurely in May. Green, is also heard saying that someone hit the boy’s head.

At one point a man begins translating for police and offers an explanation. He said ‘the president’-  likely Macron who had attended the gold medal match – was coming through the area.

‘Nobody’s allowed to cross the street right now until he’s passed,’ the good Samaritan told Sonya.

An armed cop also offered an apology, saying: ‘Sorry about the baby.’

Steph, 36, was not seen in the footage, but his teammate certainly tried to intervene amid the gold medalist’s absence.

‘So, even after him hitting the baby in the head, there’s still nothing y’all can do to get them out of here?’ Green asked.

At one point an irate Sonya can be heard yelling at others off camera: ‘What? Stop saying my name. You should be helping us with the baby!’

Later, a tearful Sonya simply tells officers: ‘Let us get to our car.’

Although Ayesha is clearly crying, she remained silent throughout the confrontation. The couple has not responded to the incident publicly.

Steph and Ayesha announced the birth of Caius in late May.

‘Our sweet baby boy decided to make an early arrival!!’ the four-time NBA champion wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of the newborn’s hand. ‘He’s doing great and we are finally settling in at home as a family of 6! So grateful!’

It’s unclear when Caius’ original due date was scheduled, but the couple’s first three children were all born in July – the height of the NBA offseason.

Eldest daughter Riley Elizabeth was born in July of 2012, while daughter Ryan was born three years later, followed by their first son, Canon, in 2018.

The son of former NBA guard Dell and brother of Charlotte Hornets reserve Seth, Stephen Curry is entering his 16th season, and already stands as the most prolific 3-point shooter in league history.

In addition to his four NBA titles, he also boasts a NBA Finals MVP award, 10 All-Star nods, and two Most Valuable Player honors.

Steph met Ayesha as a teenager at church in his native Charlotte, where his father was playing at the time. The two ultimately married in July of 2011.

Since then, Dell and his long-time wife Sonya have divorced.
