AFC West odds: Chiefs heavy divisional favorite once again

Surprise, surprise. The Chiefs are the favorites in the AFC West heading into the 2024 NFL season.

Kansas City is a massive -230 favorite at FanDuel Sportsbook to come out on top in the division, which are the best divisional odds of any team in the NFL.

The Andy Reid-led Chiefs have won the AFC West in each of the past eight seasons and all six in the Patrick Mahomes era.

Coming off a third Super Bowl win in the last five seasons, the Chiefs revamped their receiving corp, adding Marquise “Hollywood” Brown in free agency and Xavier Worthy in the draft, giving Mahomes a pair of new weapons to throw to.

There is a newcomer in the division that could make it a little tougher for Mahomes and Co. this season: Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh.

Harbaugh bolted from Michigan to become the new leader on the sidelines in Los Angeles, and expectations are high.

The Chargers currently have the second-best odds (+350) to win the AFC West and are +112 to make the postseason.

There isn’t much competition behind the Chiefs and Chargers.

The Raiders (+900) and Broncos (+2000) are both expected to be among the worst teams in the NFL this season.

Las Vegas is a +310 playoff long shot, and they have an outside shot (+1400) at finishing with the worst record in the league in the eyes of FanDuel oddsmakers.

The outlook in Denver is even more bleak.

The Broncos have the second-worst odds in the NFL to make the playoffs (+600) and have been pegged with a preseason win total of just 5.5, which is tied for the second-fewest.
