ESPN’s Troy Aikman is not one who comes out to speak on political matters to avoid the backlash from social media.

Many over the years have thought that the former Dallas Cowboys quarterback might be a Republican since there was a previous report that he had donated more than $40,000 to Republican causes since 1999.

That was pretty much put to rest after Troy Aikman and Joe Buck were caught discussing pregame military flyovers in 2020 on a hot microphone.

During a Week 6 game between the Green Bay Packers and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Aikman and Buck were caught on a hot mic discussing the pregame military flyover as the QB gave props to Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

AikmanThat’s a lot of jet fuel just to do a little flyover.

BuckThat’s your hard-earned money and your tax dollars at work!

AikmanThat stuff ain’t happening with [a] Kamala-Biden ticket. I’ll tell you that right now, partner.

That seems to suggest he is for the Democrat party.

Unsurprisingly, Troy Aikman and Joe Buck’s exchange hit social media and quickly made the rounds, forcing the QB to take to his X account to clarify his statement.

“I love a flyover,” Aikman wrote, “but It was odd to see one over a mostly empty stadium but I am an unwavering patriot that loves this country, has always respected our flag, supported the men and women in the armed forces as well as those in uniform who serve & protect and for anyone to suggest otherwise doesn’t know me, my beliefs or what I have stood for my entire life.” He also added an American flag emoji to the end of his message.

Troy Aikman might seem like a man who was a Democrat based on his previous comments, but the Center for Responsive Politics, showed that he seems to lean to the right.

Since 1999, Aikman has donated more than $40,000 to Republican causes and has contributed to George W. Bush, John McCain, and Mitt Romney’s campaigns.

It should also be noted that Aikman sent checks to the Republican National Committee, including a $20,000 payment in 2012.

There may be a chance that Troy Aikman was once a Republican, and by the time Donald Trump started to emerge, he may have switched.
